Hitchin Street Angels are up and running!

After careful and prayerful preparation, they are in the town each Saturday night and have already had remarkable experiences as they work among mainly young people who are around at that time. They welcome the prayers of the congregations in Hitchin and they will also be glad to have new volunteers. Now that the scheme is active, it may be that some who expressed an interest when the idea was first suggested will be willing to join in. If you would like to know more, please contact Grahame Williams 01462 435921 or grahame_williams@yahoo.co.uk

Christian Aid envelopes.

If you did not receive a Christian Aid envelope during Christian Aid Week and would like to make a contribution you will find some spare envelopes in a box on the tables at the back of Church near the font to put your donation in. Place the sealed envelope back in the box; it will be collected shortly after the service to add to the grand total.

Children’s services at St. Mary’s

Seekers is the Sunday School held during the 9.35am service during term time. It is for school-age children (3 years +) to hear a Bible story, sing songs and do an art activity during the service. The children are invited to Seekers at the beginning of the service and taken to Church House, which is located in Churchyard. The children then return to the service during Holy Communion.

During Seekers there is also a crèche for children under 3 years. Two C.R.B. checked volunteers run the crèche. The children hear a short story and do an art activity.

Parents are welcome to stay with their children or stay at the service whilst their children are attending Seekers or the crèche.

The Storyteller Service is a 30-minute service for children of all ages. The children are told a Bible story; they sing songs with a small string and brass band and say a prayer or two. This is always on the first Sunday of the month at 11.15am during term time.

For Young Churchgoers - those parents attending the 9.35am Sung Communion service who do not wish to attend Seekers/crèche, there is an ‘Early years gurgling room' located in the choir vestry at the back of the church for young children if you feel they need a break from the service. There is a cabinet of toys and books available for your use. The room has glass doors so that the children and parents can see and hear the services.
