The Parish of Hitchin

The Parish of Hitchin represents four churches:

St Mary's - Churchyard

Vicar, Team Rector & Rural Dean of Hitchin Deanery: The Revd Michael Roden

Holy Saviour - Radcliffe Road

Vicar: The Revd Ian Todd

St Faith's - Walsworth Crossroads

Vicar: The Revd Charmaine Sabey-Corkindale

St Mark's - Lancaster Avenue

Vicar: The Revd Dr Jane Mainwaring

The aims of the Parish are

To create a structure that can effectively provide Christian fellowship, worship, mission and service to the town of Hitchin as a whole and to its districts.

To base that structure on separate congregations which are manifestly of equal status, interdependent and united in commitment to the first objective.

To develop a pattern of ministry among clergy and lay people that will not be limited by geographical boundaries, but will relate to all areas of life experienced by those who live and work in Hitchin.

The governing body of the Parish is the Parochial Church Council (PCC) which is responsible for the overall life and work of the Parish. Each church nominates Parish Wardens and a number of members to serve on the PCC.

The Parish has two joint services a year - an Evensong in February which rotates round the four churches and a family communion in the summer at

St Mary's. Members of the Parish are also actively encouraged to attend the Patronal Festival of each church.
